Robot City I

Through street reflections and light play the multilayered dialogue between fashion and the environment is captured. We step into a dreamlike world of metropolitan life and re-imagine elements of a personal story.
We see a fabulously styled stage complete with a mannequin and an imaginative taxi prop and the trunks-shrouded Louis Vuitton building reflecting into the scene from across the avenue.

For me this window scene with the graceful, sublimely dressed “robot” mannequin strongly conjures up the sensitive and observant companion robot in Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel “Klara and the Sun”. The touching story is narrated by the solar-powered Klara who after catching the eye of her teenage customer in a store window where she was showcased, was happily purchased. The highly observant Klara lives with the family in a rapidly changing modern world and helps and saves her ailing human teenager with empathy and with the nourishment of the sun’s light.

This frame encapsulates my personal mystery of fleeting co-existences—moments where real building reflections and sky mix with the staged, seamlessly blending into splendid realms of imagination. This instance is manifested into single shot image which is available as pristine prints, untouched by the hand of retouching or manipulation, capturing the pure, unparalleled magic of the moment in a universe where a highly styled mannequin reigns as the silent sovereign of style and substance.

The effect of changing light plays off the brushed aluminium print creating further mystery and appreciation of the fleeting moment. The resulting panel is a symphony of multi-layered effects, beckoning the viewer into a realm of curiosity and delight, the viewer who is brought along on a shared voyage of imagination.
