Spirits of Venice

Venice, a realm of timeless beauty and enigma, plays host to both eager and unsuspecting masses of tourists. The spirits concealed behind the iconic white masks engage in an ethereal dialogue, unaffected by the passers-by who glimpse into their mysterious world. What secrets do they share? What cryptic messages do they convey? The masked entities, though catching the gaze of observers, remain indifferent to the ceaseless flow of tourists, even those who pause to marvel at the intricate masks. Their connection with the mundane outside world seems tenuous, as if they exist in a realm beyond ordinary perception.
All elements of the 3D canvas, the reflections of the real onto the staged along with the imagined contribute to the captivating essence of my visual narrative. The masks within this window become the protagonists of a silent tale, gradually unfolding a language of emotions and stories.
The layers of my imagery are a result of the reflections of the outside world mixed with glimpses of sky, that land via an invisible barrier onto the inside scene, resulting in a new composition and construction of an alternate reality that only my discerning eye and lens of my camera is poised to capture. The resulting tapestry is a symphony of multi-layered effects, an unparalleled magic of the moment inviting viewers into realms of curiosity and delight, guiding them on a shared journey of imagination. The final effect of moving light playing off my brushed aluminium prints creates further mystery and appreciation of the fleeting moment.
