Ticket to ride

The subject choice for my photography series of fashion store windows stems from my past career in New York as graphic designer and art director in product launches and promotion for the cosmetics and fragrance industry that left me with a trained eye for lighting, composition and design.
The arresting image titled “Ticket to ride” is to evoke stories in the viewer. The red and white detail-composition of a fashion store window displaying only crossed dangling legs with shoes and a hand holding a red handbag on a red background for me represents a carefree young lady sitting comfortably either in a luxury sedan or in a theatre waiting for her ride to depart. My title choice is simply a fun reference to the song. The combined reflection of the building and street scene contribute to the allure of my imagery. The mannequin is the protagonist in a visual tale where fashion transcends aesthetics, evolving into a language that communicates emotions and narratives.
The layers within my imagery materialize as street reflections are observed on invisible barriers over staged scenes. These reflections give rise to new compositions, crafting new realities that only my eye and the keen gaze of my camera is poised to capture. The resulting tapestry is a symphony of multi-layered effects, beckoning viewers into realms of curiosity and delight, bringing them along a shared voyage of imagination.
Each frame encapsulates personal mysteries of fleeting co-existences—moments where live street scenes mix with the meticulously staged, seamlessly blending into splendid realms of imagination. The instance manifests into single shot images and pristine prints, untouched by the hand of retouching or manipulation, capturing the pure, unparalleled magic of the moment in a universe where a well-dressed mannequin reigns as the silent sovereign of style and substance.
The effect of light plays off the brushed aluminium creating further mystery and appreciation of the fleeting moment.
